Straight as an Arrow

Could the Green Arrow name be any more generic? I mean really come on! I am wearing a black shirt with a skeleton on it so I guess my name would be Black Bones. Whenever I hear such generic names as Green this or Blue that I think of throwaway characters from an overly drawn out game of dungeons and dragons. It’s as bad as the red shirted crew on the original Star Trek TV series. Well, maybe not that bad those guys did not even have names. Did you ever see a red shirted female? I can’t recall seeing one, that is a bit odd. I will admit I don’t know the whole back story about the Green Arrow or if he has a brother named Yellow knight.

What I find kind of funny in this line art I found online is that the facemask does not cover up much of his eyes. You would have to be pretty oblivious to things if you could not recognize this man if you saw him before on the streets. I also find the pose a bit odd in what he is doing with his body and arms. It’s a nice picture to practice with that is for sure and this was one of the first ones I tried coloring.

I used a thicker brush like a marker shape to color this one except on the big muscly arms he has. I liked how the hair turned out like a marker but the arms are a bit overdone I think. How fun would it be if comic book movies made the characters eyes all white? I think this would be an awesome effect and I would really like to see it happen in a blockbuster film. Maybe one day I will do some video editing experiment on what the effect might look like.
